Who are Hillside Yoga Collective?

Hillside Yoga sits within Ashtanga Yoga Edinburgh and we are a group of experienced and dedicated yoga teachers/practitioners working out of our beautiful home at the top of Leith Walk. 

Making up this collective are Joanne Ewen, Nadine Watton, Amy Hughes and Emma Isokivi. We offer Vinyasa flow, Yin, Ashtanga, Mysore style and more! 

We love what we do and we especially love sharing - you can find us sharing in the studio and online.

Gentle Flow

  • A slower, more gentle approach to Vinyasa yoga.

    A more accessible version of a flow class which gives lots of opportunity to move in a way that suits not only our body, but also our energy levels. Another way to experience a flow style practice where our movements are linked with our breath.

    This class is suitable for all levels, beginners welcome.

Vinyasa Flow

  • A flow style class where you are led through your practice linking your movement with breath. Vinyasa yoga is a more dynamic practice where you move through a flow of different yoga poses. This allows the body to ease gently into postures that build flexibility, strength and balance.

    This class will be appropriate for people with some experience of yoga.

Yin

  • Yin is a slower paced style of yoga where we stay in a pose for longer periods, often a few minutes at a time. Props will be available to support your body in the poses, which are normally done seated or lying down. The practice targets our connective tissues including fascia, ligaments and joints. This can improve mobility as well as increasing the circulation of qi, or energy, through various channels.

    This class is suitable for all levels.

Chanting & Meditation

  • A class exploring Vedic and non-Vedic chants to harness the healing power of sound.

    This class is delivered in an inclusive way, providing handouts and working through these ancient practices with call and repeat.

    We allow time to sit quietly for a meditation practice. You can use your Mysore pass for this class.

    Open to all levels - beginners welcome.
